Introduction
National HESAC is a non-executive joint body comprising companies and trade unions of the Electricity Industry together with representatives from the HSE (and originally the Department of Trade and Industry). It was established to consider collective health, safety and operational environmental (where appropriate) matters of mutual interest. It has been meeting successfully for over 40 years. The committee functions as a positive and pro-active forum to help promote a positive climate for the management of health, safety and the environment within the whole Electricity Industry. The role of chairman is alternated each year between a senior Trade Union official and a senior company representative.
Energy Networks Association (ENA) and Energy UK (EUK) Member Companies together with the Industry’s Trade Unions (namely GMB, Prospect, Unison and Unite) with support from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are committed to working together to improve health and safety standards in UK Electricity Sector.
To support this commitment National HESAC have issued this statement of intent:
ENA and EUK Company Senior Management and TU National Officers are firmly committed to improving Health & Safety standards in our sector and where appropriate, agreeing initiatives to achieve this at all levels in the industry. A good example of this is the current Powering Improvement strategy now into its Third Phase"
